Time: 9:00-18:00 Room: The Rigodon Ballroom A and B The APEC Energy Working Group (EWG) and Transportation Working Group (TPTWG) have done a great deal of work on concrete initiatives related to reducing energy-intensity and helping APEC transition to a clean energy future. A LEDS is an overarching framework or set of tools that helps economies think and plan strategically about how to mainstream climate change considerations in their economic and development plans. One key component of a LEDS is improved efficiency in key energy end-use sectors – including in the transportation sector. This workshop will address the following objectives: • Share experiences and best practices on transport planning in LEDS to assist APEC economies with the development and implementation of transportation strategies; • Discuss how to develop transportation plans that incorporate policy measures and financial investment strategies that contribute to the delivery of low emission transport projects and plans, including strategic monitoring and assessment activities; • Identify existing, or develop new, methodologies as needed that officials can apply in setting and achieving local and national government performance targets in low carbon transportation systems. • Build interest and encourage active participation by transportation officials and private sector representatives in the LEDS planning processes underway in their respective economies This full-day workshop is targeted to those working on LEDS in the transport sector.
